Movie & TV data sources
The catalog is growing. Search can retrieve additional records from these free public sources. Coverage, descriptions, artwork and ratings vary; missing fields stay unknown. Metadata and original air dates do not establish current streaming availability.
TVmaze — series and episodes
Series descriptions, posters, genres, source ratings and episode lists come from TVmaze. WHERE selects fields, converts summary HTML to text and formats dates and ratings. This adapted metadata dataset is available under CC BY-SA 4.0. Images are linked directly under TVmaze’s API image terms.
Broadcast and streaming-release schedules
TVmaze’s country schedule supplies first-airing listings; its global web schedule supplies streaming episode releases. Global entries are labelled because they do not confirm access in every country. WHERE combines adjacent source dates and filters actual timestamps to the selected local day, preserving missing times. This is not a complete movie or rerun EPG.
Download the adapted CC BY-SA 4.0 scheduleFree full-film viewing
Wikimedia Commons supplies a separately reviewed US viewing listing for Night of the Living Dead (1968). The exact full-film file, native work identity, runtime and US public-domain flags are checked, with anonymous file HEAD checks. Offers expire if not refreshed. Copyright differs outside the US; the film is not offered by this source in other countries. Existing Internet Archive open-film options are maintained separately. None of these sources establishes mainstream subscription coverage.
Commons full film and rights statementWikidata — movies
English names, short descriptions, genres and review scores are selected from Wikidata’s CC0 structured data. Scores retain the original reviewer and units, with a date when supplied. A short Wikidata description may not be a plot synopsis. Conflicting release years remain unknown.
Wikipedia — article overviews
Some movie and series details include an introductory paragraph from English Wikipedia. WHERE verifies the existing title’s Wikidata identity and article revision, omits tables, notes, quotations and media, converts the selected paragraph to plain text and shortens long paragraphs. Wikipedia contributors retain attribution; this adapted text is CC BY-SA 4.0, separately from Wikidata’s CC0 facts and OMDb’s metadata. The article revision and history accompany each displayed overview. No Wikipedia artwork or new title identities are imported.
Film Nagar — discovery pointers
Film Nagar’s published catalog helps us discover Indian films through explicit Wikidata identifiers. WHERE fetches the metadata directly from Wikidata and checks film type, Indian origin and known identities before adding a listing. Known or ambiguous matches are skipped or held for review. Film Nagar’s prose, ratings, artwork and viewing claims are not imported. Its exclusions and eligible-language list remain part of the discovery checks; independently fetched Commons images keep their own file credits.
Open Media Database — movies and series
Names and movie/series types come from omdb.org’s public indexes under CC BY 2.0 Germany. WHERE preserves native identities and links each record to its source and version history. Country associations come from OMDb’s country CSV, attached only to existing native IDs. Selected-country filters keep co-productions and unknown-country titles; TVmaze original-channel context is also used. Country context does not establish viewing access. This index adds listings; dates, plots, ratings and pictures are not imported from it. Those fields remain unknown. Records from different sources are kept separate until their identities can be verified.
Cadrame — additional names and structured fields
Cadrame supplies selected multilingual and original names, short identification descriptions, and original countries and languages under CC0. WHERE attaches these fields only when the native movie or series type and both known Wikidata and IMDb IDs agree with an existing listing. New names can help search; canonical titles stay unchanged. Cadrame is a prototype and this is a limited enrichment, with separate revisions and source history. It supplies no viewing rights, artwork or scores here.
Artwork and viewing options
Movie images from Wikimedia Commons are shown only with a supported per-file license, creator credit and a link to the original file. An image may be a still rather than a poster. Many movies do not have usable artwork in these sources. Viewing options are verified separately and retain their own sources and terms.
KinoCheck — official trailer links
Selected trailer titles, publication dates and outbound video links come from KinoCheck’s public API. WHERE attaches them only to an existing title with a current, unique IMDb identity and matching movie or series type. Trailer dates describe the video, not a film release or series premiere. A season trailer does not establish episode coverage or where to stream the title. Coverage varies, and links may be region-restricted. This API-use licensed metadata is separate from the open datasets; KinoCheck artwork and video files are not copied.
